2012 TOBY Award – Renovated Building

Now in its 28th year as part of BOMA Canada's Awards Program, The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Award is the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality and awarding excellence in building management. Winners of our local TOBY awards have the option to be enter into the BOMA Canada national awards competition.

Manitoba TOBY applicants are judged on a building inspection, community impact, building amenities and tenant relations, energy management, sustainability, emergency preparedness and security standards, and training of building personnel.

The Outstanding Building of the Year Award for Renovated Building is presented to a building that is at least 15 years old and has undertaken a significant rehabilitation, modernization, or remodelling project. This undertaking must include 5 significant work projects as outlined in BOMA's submisssions guide.


The Richardson Centre Concourse, which is also owned by Richardson Centre Limited, and managed by Bentall Kennedy (Canada) Limited Partnership. Built in 1970, the concourse has undergone major upgrades, which have included a new electrical system, new sprinkler system, elevator upgrades, new water fixtures, and a renovated main lobby.

The concourse square footage measures nearly 27,000 square feet, and tenants include Nathan Detroit's, Tim Horton's, AON Insurance, and CIBC. The concourse also boasts a brand new state-of-the art conference centre that can accommodate up to 170 guests for meetings and business functions.
